Navtech Inc., a Waterloo-based provider of flight operations software, is looking forward to joining forces with French aviation giant Airbus. Navtech is headquartered in the David Johnston Research and Technology Park, says more than 400 airlines use its software for flight operations, aeronautical charts, navigation data solutions, flight planning, aircraft performance and crew planning. The company has annual revenue of about $42 million and employs more than 250 people, mostly in Waterloo, but also in offices in the United Kingdom. The deal with Airbus will allow Navtech get access to Airbus' worldwide network that includes commercial carriers, military and aerospace customers. Airbus CEO Fabrice Brégier said Navtech will bolster its portfolio of digital solutions.
The sale to Airbus still needs the approval of regulatory agencies in Canada and France. That is expected to happen in March.
