July 31, 2015 - The federal and Ontario governments revealed that they are supporting Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada with funding of more than $100-million in correspondence to the company's announcement that it will invest millions to bring new technology and a new product line to its Cambridge and Woodstock, Ont., plant. The company stated it will spend $421-million to launch the next generation Lexus RX 350 and 450h, supported by a range of new technologies that will constitute firsts for Toyota globally and in North America. The company observed that the new money brings its total of recent investments in Canadian operations to more than $1-billion, with this round helping to secure 8,000 jobs. The larger question of what will happen when production of the popular Corolla is moved to Mexico remained unanswered.
