The Irish send their companies to invest in Canada -- not just its rock stars

July 6, 2015 - While the famous Irish band U2 has been touring Canada, there has been many mergers and acquisitions happening between Irish and Canadian companies. Last week, Dublin-based plastics and environmental services company One51 agreed to buy a majority stake in Montréal-based IPL Inc. for $290 million. According to data from the Ireland-Canada Chamber of Commerce, the latest transaction is part of a greater trend of Irish companies coming to Canada. The data says Canada receives almost 25 per cent of Ireland foreign direct investment, and is now home to about 70 Irish companies.
