More Vancouver companies pursuing partnerships and export opportunities in Brazil - June 23, 2015 - Vancouver companies are increasingly looking south to Latin America instead of west to Asia in search of their next opportunities. Ottawa has sponsored five trade missions to the region in the past five years, and last year saw more than $60 billion in two-way trade with Latin America. Carolyn Cross, CEO of Vancouver's Ondine Biomedical, recently travelled to Brazil as part of a trade mission and says partnerships with that country and its cheap labour makes it easier to overcome her sector's challenges with scalability. "We have core values and similarities from business and cultures that we can tap into," she said. "Whereas in Asia, a lot of our technologies just get stolen... whether it's corruption or theft."
