Ottawa, June 16, 2015 - QNX, the wholly owned division of BlackBerry, develops software that runs everything from routine diagnostics and blind-spot detection systems to in-car entertainment networks. While Apple is actively pushing its CarPlay entertainment software that allows iPhone and other Apple devices to easily connect to an automobile, Google is fighting back with Android Auto, tailored to devices that use Google’s Android operating system. Both will run on top of QNX’s software. “From a trends perspective if you look at it over time, I would say there was between 20 million and 30 million vehicles that shipped last year that would be a target for an advanced operating system like QNX,” said Andrew Poliak, Director of Global Business Development at QNX.
