Premier Kathleen Wynne has announced a provincial commitment of $730,000 to create a streamlined new marketing agency. For many years, the business of attracting outside investment was handled by a confusing mix of municipal development offices, with each city often competing against its neighbours for the same economic opportunity. That undercut everyone’s chances. Instead, the area actually functions as a single, highly productive, well-integrated economic powerhouse. As reported by the Star’s Rob Ferguson, the premier’s stated goal is to make the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton “one of the most competitive and attractive regions for investment.”
