Why Calgary

Calgary is a diverse and prosperous city in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Fresh air, open spaces, parks and pathways, mountains and rivers frame the city. With more days of sunshine than any other major Canadian city and less than an hour’s drive from the majestic Rockies, it’s easy to see why Calgarians enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle.

But Calgary is much more than its geography. It is a place where, for generations, people have chosen to follow their dreams, build new lives, and find their place in the world. Calgary’s dynamic and innovative spirit, superior workforce, clean and safe environment make Calgary a world-class city.

Projections are for the city’s economy to create as many as 244,000 new jobs over the next decade. The oil and gas and mining industries account for more than 2,400 firms and 63,000 workers. Calgary is home to the majority of Canada’s oil and gas production firms, pipeline and drilling operations, Calgary has also attracted a growing technology sector and the city attracts over 3 million tourists a year.
